Social Project – Promotion of oral health and fighting childhood obesity
In 2019 NotreDame Intermédica Group benefited 1,500 children, from six to ten years old, through actions for oral health and fighting childhood obesity. Actions were promoted in partnership with municipal health and education departments of Mogi das Cruzes and Itapevi, both cities located on São Paulo state.
Different professionals have embraced the cause to give guidance to children for a better life quality.
UN Global Compact
GNDI is signatory of the UN Global Compact Principles since 2018. Therefore GNDI has made a voluntary commitment on the development of subjects as human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Our main sustainability projects and actions can be checked on the Communication on Progress UN Global Compact.

GNDI works to create an environment free of any prejudice, capable of valuing all kinds of diversity. We seek to promote an environment in which everyone – employees, customers and partners – can find conditions of equality and respect.
Due to it, GNDI created the “Diversity at GNDI” project, which is available at our Corporate University. Every edition of the Guide Booklet we approach topics as: PwD, women, ethnicity, etc. These guides aim to clarify doubts of how to act in face of some unknown situations.

Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs)
Since 2019 GNDI has become signatory to the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), which guide companies on best practices for women empowerment. The seven Principles will help GNDI to improve work environment strategies.

Membership to the Healthy Hospitals Project
NotreDame Intermédica Group joined the “Projeto Hospitais Saudáveis” (Healthy Hospitals Project) and the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals network, an initiative coordinated by the organization Health Care Without Harm. The hospitals participating in this initiative are:
- Notrecare ABC Hospital and Maternity Ward
- Guarulhos Hospital and Maternity Ward
- Modelo Hospital
- Bosque da Saúde Hospital
This partnership reaffirms the group´s commitment to contribute with knowledge and actions to continuously improve environmental and public health practices, which are fundamental for a fairer, safer, sustainable and healthier society.
Health Services Solid Waste Management Plan (PGRSS)
The health service waste generated have different final disposals based on the Health Services Waste classification, which involves separating the waste based on the potential risks to public health and the environment, in accordance with the applicable laws. The final disposal of solid waste is conducted by expert companies duly licensed by government authorities.
The Health Services Solid Waste Management Plan establishes the procedures for handling, storing, internal and external collection and final disposal of solid waste in accordance with the law.
Regularly GNDI invests in training programs for its own and outsourced employees to ensure the effective standardization of processes and the correct waste destination, reducing the negative environmental impact.
Greenhouse Gases Inventory
For the first time in the history of NotreDame Intermédica Group, an inventory of greenhouse gases related to GNDI Headquarters was published.
The inventory aims to quantify greenhouse gases emissions. Thus we are able to manage and reduce our GHG emissions and reduce our environmental impact on the global climate.
Check out our inventory here or on the page of Public Registry of the GHG Protocol Brazilian Program.
Renewable Energy Certificate (REC-Brazil)
In 2019 GNDI had ensured the consumption of renewable electricity by Guarulhos Hospital, Notrecare ABC Hospital and São Paulo´s headquarter by purchasing renewable energy certificates (REC Brazil).
Each I-REC, International Renewable Energy Certificate, represents proof that 1 MWh of renewable energy has been produced and included at the Brazilian national grid (SIN – Sistema Interligado Nacional). REC Brazil has the same I-REC criterias with additional standards in terms of sustainability and linked to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
By purchasing 8500 REC-Brazil certificates from a wind farm, GNDI offsets its scope 2 emissions of three units, promotes renewable energy production and social responsability actions. Check here the statement of redemption and more informations about the wind farm.
